Job Description
with compassion and precision to create meaningful change in the lives of our patients.
About the Role
MiSalud Health brings preventive health screenings directly to employer sites in the Salinas Valley. We are hiring a CLS to lead the clinical operations of our mobile CLIA-waived screening program, launching March 2026.
You will function as the day-to-day lab authority under BPC 1209: owning protocols, QA/QC, staff training, and regulatory compliance. While our named Lab Director oversees our operation, you will be responsible for the operation on the ground, supervising contract phlebotomists using fingerstick POC devices during on-site screening events. The expectation will be that you work virtually by being available on-call during events, and attend every 3rd or 4th event in person for in-person oversight. We expect to host 2-day events once or twice a month.
What Actually Matters to Us
• Operational Excellence: You own the quality and compliance of our CLIA-Waived Lab operations, from P&P manuals to proficiency testing and regulatory inspections (CDPH, CLIA).
• Clinical Leadership: You are capable of leading a team of Phlebotomists virtually and physically present at screening, validating QC, troubleshooting workflows, and signing-off abnormalities.
• Mentorship & Training: You train and assess phlebotomists, ensuring competency and clear duty specifications per BPC 1209.
• Extreme Ownership: As part of a lean mobile team, you have high autonomy and accountability over lab informatics and data integrity.
• Communication & Clarity: Report status, progress and suggestions back to clinical leadership of MiSalud Health for growth and improvement of our mobile lab services.
What You'll Work With
You will manage and oversee the following point-of-care (POC) technology provided by MiSalud:
• Devices and Tests: Abbott Afinion 2 (HbA1c), Abbott Cholestech LDX (Lipid Panel + Glucose + TG), and Abbott iSTAT 1 (Creatinine/eGFR)
• Vital Screenings: BP, Weight, Height, BMI, Waist circumference.
• Informatics: POC device connectivity and document control systems
What We're Looking For
• Active California CLS license (Required)
• At least 5 years of clinical laboratory experience
• Proven experience with QA/QC and CLIA compliance
• Bilingual Spanish/English, as our patients are predominantly Spanish-speaking
• Valid CA driver's license and ability to travel around Monterey County and nearby areas
• Experience with POC devices (Afinion, Cholestech, iSTAT) or community screening is a plus
What We Offer
• $50-$75/hr, based on experience
• Paid onboarding and a monthly invoicing cycle
• A role where your work visibly improves health outcomes for underserved communities.
• A full in-facility CLIA lab, targeted for ~Q3 2026 is underway. Strong performers will have first consideration for expanded roles: Lab Supervisor, Technical Consultant, moderate-complexity testing.
Diversity & Inclusion
At MiSalud Health, we believe diversity is essential to building better healthcare systems. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to creating a workplace where everyone can thrive.
