Position Summary: The Research Nurse works independently and with a team to coordinate various aspects of care for patients enrolled in research trials, manages the distribution and collection of essential data required to complete assigned research projects, and assures that all data is collected in compliance with FDA and GCP/ICH standards.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.
· Together with primary investigator, serves as the point person and team leader for assigned research projects.
· Screens patients to assure appropriate patient selection according to specific protocol inclusion and exclusion criteria.
· Works with the patient, physicians, clinic personnel, outside vendors, and the research team to coordinate all protocol related tests, procedures, and visits.
· Retrieves data from patient charts and/or source documents for entry into sponsor provided case report forms. Case report form may be paper based or electronic.
· Prepares source data documents.
· Assists with patient scheduling as needed, coordinating appointments with other providers associated with protocol care (i.e., x-ray, scans).
· Promotes a proactive and professional relationship with external affiliates regarding clinical research.
· Maintains strictest confidentiality adhering to HIPAA regulations.
· Attends meetings and /or training as required.
· Transport of documents/laboratory samples/supplies, as necessary.
· Perform other duties as assigned.

· Knowledge of Oncology practice and terminology
· Ability to prepare records in accordance with detailed instructions

• Knowledge of current FDA regulations, and Good Clinical Practices (GCP’s), governing clinical research. *
• Understanding of ethical & legal liability, and patient safety issues associated with non-compliance with regulations governing research*
• Good communication skills and a proven track record of working well within a team, with other businesses, and with the public.
· Detail oriented, precise, and accurate
• Training can be provided
Education and experience:
· ADN or BSN
· At least one-year experience working as an RN
· Experience working as a clinical research nurse or coordinator preferred.
· Valid Washington State RN license
· Ability to speak clearly and concisely, and to communicate effectively, and work effectively with co-workers, patients, and business contacts
· Technologically literate including competency in Microsoft Office

Working is performed in a clinic/office environment. Involves contact with patients and the public. Work under occasional pressure due to multiple studies, patients, and data deadlines. Requires ability to diplomatically interface with physicians, clients and coworkers. Frequent travel between NWMS clinics and occasional overnight travel required.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
· Work may require long periods of sitting; also stooping, bending, and stretching for files and supplies.
· Occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 50 pounds.
